Our Exploring Sensory Differences workshop is an introductory session for parents and carers who want to better understand how sensory differences may affect their child. It is particularly suitable for families who are noticing sensory sensitivities or preferences but do not have a diagnosis, or who are simply beginning to explore neurodiversity.
Children can experience the world through their senses in different ways. This can influence how they respond to sound, movement, touch, food, busy environments, and daily routines.
In this workshop, we will introduce the concept of sensory differences and explore how these may present in everyday situations at home, school, or when out and about.
The session focuses on building a basic understanding of sensory processing and, importantly, sharing practical strategies that parents and carers can use to support their child.
This is an introductory-level workshop, designed as a welcoming starting point for parents and carers who want to learn more about sensory differences and gain helpful tools, without needing a diagnosis to attend.
Our workshops are held in small groups in our dedicated training space, The Green Room, which means there is plenty of time for questions and parent and carers have the opportunity to meet other families.
Workshops are hosted by staff from The Compass Partnership, all of whom are from Bolton and have children/young people with additional needs.
A range of refreshments are provided.
Booking is compulsory.
