Transition to Secondary School EHC

Moving to secondary school is a big transition for all children. When your child has special educational needs, we understand that this transition can feel even more nerve-wracking for parents.

Our workshop is designed to support you through the transition to secondary school. We will guide you through the process for children with an EHC Plan, help you understand what needs to happen and when, and share tips and advice for the journey ahead.

The workshop covers transition with an EHC Plan for children in both mainstream and specialist settings.

Our transition workshops are fully up to date with the process in Bolton and are based on what SEND law says should happen.

These sessions are for parents and carers who have a child with an EHC Plan who will start secondary school in September 2027 or 2028. Your child will currently be in Year 4 or Year 5.

If your child does not have an EHC Plan and is supported through SEN Support, we run a separate workshop. Click here for more information.

Our workshops take place in small groups in our own training space, The Green Room. There is plenty of time to ask questions. Parents and carers can also meet other families.

The workshops are run by staff from The Compass Partnership. All of our staff live in Bolton and have children or young people with additional needs.

Refreshments are provided.

You must book a place before attending.
