Parent Carer Workshops

Our parent carer workshops are at the heart of The Compass Partnership. Since 2016 Bolton Parent Carers and Bolton Information Advisory Service have worked in coproduction to develop, write and deliver our workshops. This ensures that the content of our sessions is not just legally accurate, but it is also up to date with Bolton processes.

Our workshops aim to provide parents and carers with information that is not just legally accurate, but also explain how this looks for our families here in Bolton. This empowers parents and carers to be able to travel the SEND journey with a wealth of knowledge to support on the way.

We listen to our parents and carers and have recently redeveloped our sessions in terms of content, number of participants and length. Our sessions are held in small groups, this allows them to be informal and we can be responsive to plenty of questions during the session.

Sessions are hosted by staff from The Compass Partnership, all of whom are SEND parents and live in Bolton.

We use a mixture of PowerPoint presentations, anecdotes, activities and question answering during the sessions. We always have a break, and refreshments are available throughout.

Our workshops are held at The Bolton Hub, in central Bolton, it’s location and directions can be found by clicking here.  In January 2026 we will be delivering all our sessions from our own space on the 3rd Floor. We have developed The Green Room to be a welcoming and relaxing space for parents and carers.

Please see our brand new workshops offer below, please note, this will be added to over the next few months.
